“Kurs” — an LMS Platform for Veteran Training and Employment

The client came to us with the goal of building more than just an LMS — a platform that connects veterans and employers within a single journey, from choosing a new career to employment. Companies can register on the platform, join the initiative, publish their own training programs, and engage with candidates after they complete their courses.

For each veteran, the system builds a professional profile and CV, stores learning progress, test results, and certificates. Once a course is completed, the employer can see a qualified candidate and invite them to an interview directly through the platform. The platform is free for veterans, convenient for businesses, and ready to scale with more courses, employers, and participants.

About the project

“Kurs” — an LMS Platform Connecting Veteran Training with a Real Path to Employment

“Kurs” is a socially impactful educational platform created to provide free professional training for veterans and their families. The system brings together employer-led learning programs, user accounts, progress tracking, testing, certification, and a further path to job opportunities and interviews. The platform offers 30+ courses across 11 professional tracks, with 1,500+ participants already trained. Its Laravel and AWS architecture allows the LMS to grow, onboard new partners, and scale both users and educational content.

Tasks

The project involved several key product and technical challenges

  • Build a complete user journey from career choice to employment — learning tracks, courses, tests, certificates, user profiles, job opportunities, and interaction with employers.
  • Create a scalable LMS architecture for a growing number of courses and users, so the platform can expand without rebuilding the core system when new programs, partners, and learning tracks are added.
  • Provide employers with a dedicated platform workflow — enabling them to participate in training programs, offer their own courses, identify qualified candidates, and engage with veterans after training.
  • Ensure platform stability and long-term development — Laravel backend, AWS infrastructure, content management, analytics, responsive interfaces, and ongoing technical support after launch.

Process

How We Built and Continue to Develop the “Kurs” LMS Platform

The project evolved step by step — from analyzing the learning model and designing core user flows to launching the LMS, onboarding employers, and scaling the content. Our work did not end after launch: Intent Solutions continues to provide technical support and develop the platform as the project grows and new requirements emerge.

  1. Learning Model Analysis & LMS Design

We mapped the complete user journey: choosing a career track, registration, course completion, testing, certification, and further interaction with employers. Based on this, we defined the platform structure, user roles, and logic of the key modules.

  2. Scalable Architecture on Laravel & AWS

We built the backend and infrastructure with future growth in courses, participants, and partners in mind. The architecture allows new functionality and learning tracks to be added without rebuilding the core system.

  3. Launch of Learning Flows & Employer Interaction

We implemented user accounts, learning modules, progress tracking, testing, certificates, and workflows for partners and employers. Key scenarios were thoroughly tested before the platform was prepared for real users and educational content.

  4. Ongoing Technical Support & Development

After launch, we continue to work on the platform: maintaining stability, resolving technical issues, adding new functionality, adapting the system for new courses and partners, and developing the LMS alongside the project. Support and development are ongoing to this day.

Adaptiveness

The Veteran’s Full Journey — on Any Device

From choosing a career path and completing a course to testing, certification, and receiving an interview invitation, the platform’s key user flows are available across mobile, tablet, and desktop. This allows veterans to use “Kurs” without being tied to a specific device.
